W2: Creating a New Social Media Platform
Dream Box
YouTube operates as an American-based online platform for sharing videos. YouTube enables users to upload, view, rate with likes and dislikes, share, create playlists, report, comment on videos, and subscribe to other users. The slogan "Broadcast Yourself," used for several years, and the concept of user profiles as "Channels," illustrate the platform's foundation of enabling individuals to operate personal broadcasting stations akin to television, extended with video-on-demand capabilities. YouTube became popular in March 2006. In the summer of 2006, YouTube emerged as one of the most rapidly expanding websites on the internet, accommodating over 65,000 new video uploads. I believe that people must now have YouTube on their phones.
However, does it work as people expect? Currently, people often obtain videos from other platforms and upload them to YouTube without permission from the original authors. This practice highlights YouTube's failure to protect creators' rights.
Therefore, Dream Box can identify whether uploaded videos are stolen from others and uploaded again. This means that if you are not the original video author, Dream Box can identify the video and block the account. If you are the original video creator and wish to upload your video through Dream Box, an identity verification is required to ensure you are the author. Dream Box can be a safety platform protecting the rights of video creators.
Not only that, an identification function is provided for viewers' convenience. Firstly, the identification function uses AI to detect objects in the video. This allows viewers to understand what materials the video creator is using, whether it's ingredients for a recipe or tools for a DIY project. For example, did you know that some cooking channels do not mention all the ingredients needed to cook a dessert or even make soup? With Dream Box's identification feature, viewers can easily spot and confirm every ingredient or tool shown on screen, ensuring they have the complete information for their own attempts.
Additionally, this advanced feature helps viewers overcome challenges in obtaining material details and avoids confusion while learning techniques from videos. By accurately identifying objects, Dream Box enhances the learning experience, making it more informative and engaging. Whether you're following a cooking tutorial or a crafting demonstration, knowing exactly what is being used enhances your ability to replicate. This not only improves learning outcomes but also fosters a sense of trust and reliability in the content provided on Dream Box, setting it apart as a platform that prioritizes both creator transparency and viewer empowerment. As Dream Box continues to evolve, its commitment to enhancing user experience through innovative features like object identification remains central to its mission of revolutionizing video interaction and education on social media.
